Caldecott Award & Honor Books

The Caldecott Medal was named in honor of nineteenth-century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott. It is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.

Caldecott books are picture books, so generally intended for children aged 0-8 years.  In the description of each of these Caldecott winner and honour books, there is an age level suggested. These age levels have been determined by Amazon book reviewers and are the same ones listed for the books on the Amazon website. We feel they are accurate but since every child is so unique, we recommend that parents still look over each book that their child reads to make sure that it is indeed appropriate for their particular child.
